Kazakhstan National Football Team Profile

Profile of the Kazakhstan national football team history of the FSK Football Federation of Kazakhstan is the association football in this country's was founded on 1914 and represents governing body for football in Kazakhstan for international competition and is controlled by FSK. Became a member of UEFA Affiliation in 2002 and FIFA Affiliation in 1994.

Historically the development of football in Kazakhstan was closely connected to the USSR, because Kazakhstan was part of the Soviet Union from 1922 to 1991. They split from the Soviet Union national football team after independence in 1991 and joined the Asian Football Confederation's Central and South Asian Football Federation. They prevailed in the first stage of qualification against Pakistan and Iraq in 1998, before losing to Japan, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan in the second. The national side also competed in two AFC Asian Cup qualifying rounds, in 1996 and 2000. After failing to qualify for the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cup they joined UEFA.

In 1992 the Independent Football Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan (FARK) was created following the dissolution of the USSR. Two years later the association gained FIFA and AFC membership. In 2000, though, FARK was re-formed to become the Football Federation of Kazakhstan (FSK) whose greatest achievement would be admittance to UEFA.
